Threat

The Department of Public Safety is established to protect and serve the educational environment of Canisius University, protecting the campus and the surrounding neighborhood from the threat of physical harm, property damage and disruptive activity. We continuously strive to build and maintain a high level of cooperation between the campus community, the neighborhood surrounding the campus and the Department.

The Counseling Center offers confidential counseling services by a staff of licensed mental health counselors. Both in-person and tele-counseling services are available for Canisius students.

Visit the Counseling Center website to schedule an appointment. In-person and Virtual Drop-In Hours are available from 3pm-4pm daily without an appointment.

For emergencies after hours, please utilize Telus Health to get in contact with one of their on-call counselors 24/7.

Title IX protects students against sexual and gender-based misconduct. Students may report incidents of such misconduct to the Title IX office and/or begin the conversation to learn about their options. Use the link provided to learn about the many ways you can use and contact Canisius's Title IX resources. The Title IX Coordinator is Debbie Owens. ALANA provides African American, Latinx American, Asian American and Native American (ALANA) students with various services that help students to succeed at Canisius and after they graduate. We strive towards the campus community goals of fostering, respecting, and exploring cultural differences. We assist the college in enhancing services for ALANA student communities, and we introduce the entire student population to issues involving cross-cultural patterns, participation in the life of the college, and self-concept concerns. While most services provided are co-curricular, we also serve as a referral and support unit regarding academic, financial, personal, and social matters.

The Bias Report Form is an online form where students can make the Bias Resources and Response Team aware of a bias incident. This form also has further information on who to contact regarding a bias incident. You may also call the bias hotline number provided to leave a message. The form can be found at the bottom of the Bias Response Team webpage.

A bias incident is an incident motivated, in whole or in part, by the offender's bias against the actual or perceived age, creed, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or any other protected status* of the targeted person or group, and may or may not rise to the level of a criminal offense.
